Admission Information

I. Admission statuses
  • Temporary admission will be granted to students who are admissible to the University but lack all official documentation for conditional or unconditional admission. This status is granted for only one semester. Students admitted on a temporary basis are limited to nine hours at the graduate level, or thirteen hours at the undergraduate level.
  • Conditional admission is granted to students that do not meet unconditional admission.
  1. Graduate students. Conditionally admitted graduate students are limited to a total of nine attempted credit hours and must meet a 3.0 grade point average at the end of the nine credit hours attempted. Failure to meet the 3.0 grade point average at the end of the nine hours will result in being dropped from program.
  • Unconditional admission is granted to students that have met all University admission requirements.
  1. Graduate students. Students must hold a baccalaureate degree with a minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or a 3.0 grade point average on the last 30 semester hours. (Some licensure and professional programs have separate requirements). A GRE score of 850 or MAT score of 385 is required. Students may obtain two grades of “C” or below in their graduate degree program without being dropped from program. A 3.0 cumulative grade point average is required for the Master’s degree. A 3.25 cumulative grade point average is required for the Education Specialist degree.
Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or be subject to probation and/or suspension.

II. Unclassified Students

High school students or transfer students who are 21 or older and who are in good standing at the last college attended may take up to nine semester hours without providing regular admission documentation.  They may earn no more than nine semester hours of credit unless they have a 2.0 grade point average on all previous college work attempted.

III. Transfer Credit Policy
  1. Graduate students. Students may transfer up to 12 semester hours from another graduate program if the other degree program has not been completed. Students may only transfer up to 6 hours from a COMPLETED degree program. For education students, no course may be transferred if it has previously been used for any certification purposes.
