Admission Information

I. Admission statuses

  • Temporary admission will be granted to students who are admissible to the University but lack all official documentation for conditional or unconditional admission. This status is granted for only one semester. Students admitted on a temporary basis are limited to nine hours at the graduate level, or thirteen hours at the undergraduate level.
  • Conditional admission is granted to students that do not meet unconditional admission.
  1. Undergraduate students. If the student’s high school grade point average is less than 2.00 but at least 1.70, they may be admitted conditionally. (See the current University Catalog for additional information.)
Conditionally admitted undergraduate students are limited to a total of thirteen attempted credit hours and must meet a 2.0 grade point average at the end of 24 attempted credit hours. Failure to meet the 2.0 grade point average at the end of 24 attempted credit hours will result in being dropped from program.
  • Unconditional admission is granted to students that have met all University admission requirements.
  1. Undergraduate students. Beginning freshmen who are graduates from an accredited high school with a 2.0 grade point average will be granted unconditional admission. An ACT score of 18 or a SAT score of 870 is required. Transfer students with at least 24 hours of attempted college course work with an overall grade point average of 2.0 will be granted unconditional admission.
Students must maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average or be subject to probation and/or suspension.

II. Unclassified Students

High school students or transfer students who are 21 or older and who are in good standing at the last college attended may take up to nine semester hours without providing regular admission documentation.  They may earn no more than nine semester hours of credit unless they have a 2.0 grade point average on all previous college work attempted.

III. Transfer Credit Policy
  1. Undergraduate students. Transfer students may request an unofficial evaluation of their transfer credit at the point of application. An official evaluation normally takes approximately six to eight weeks upon receipt of all official transcripts. WebExpress access to the evaluation is available to all students.
Students transferring from accredited universities may transfer up to 75% of their course work if applicable to their degree program. At least 50% of the degree program must be academic credit from a senior level (four-year) school. Twelve semester hours in each major field must be completed in residence at Troy University.
